As her stepmother, Shay Sights, finishes her bed, Demi Hawks looks around her new dorm room in wonder. When Demi finally arrives, she asks Shay to stay over so she can get used to her new surroundings. Shay is moved, particularly when Demi asks her to sleep with him in order to provide comfort for this significant life transition. They share each other's enthusiasm and nervousness about the next experiences as they relax onto the bed. They eventually talk about college experimentation, and Shay shares personal anecdotes from her time in college to reassure Demi. However, it becomes clear from their conversation that Demi has very little prior experience in the bedroom. Though Shay is taken aback, she acknowledges that she doesn't want to send Demi into this unfamiliar world unprepared, which sparks an unanticipated spark between them—and much more!
